Akhilesh Yadav’s Rally Aims to Consolidate Support Across 32 Districts
Greater Noida: Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav will address a massive public meeting in Dadri, Gautam Buddha Nagar today. The rally is being held at the Mihir Bhoj Degree College grounds, where thousands of supporters are expected to gather. Before the event, Akhilesh Yadav will also garland the statue of Emperor Mihir Bhoj. A pandal approximately 100 meters long has been prepared for the rally.
Through this rally, the Samajwadi Party aims to convey its stronghold on approximately 140 assembly seats across 32 districts in western Uttar Pradesh. The party will attempt to sharpen its political strategy by criticizing the BJP government's policies. The SP leadership views this as preparation for the 2027 assembly elections.
The rally is expected to draw large numbers of people from several districts, including Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Sambhal, Shamli, Baghpat, Noida, and Greater Noida. Senior party leaders and workers have prepared to mobilize the crowd through village and booth-level meetings. Leaders say this rally will send a message of social unity and brotherhood.
The same site in Dadri has been chosen where controversy erupted over the statue of Emperor Mihir Bhoj before the 2022 Assembly elections. At that time, the Gurjar community protested over the name on the plaque. Now, the SP's decision to hold a rally at this very location is being seen as a significant political message, with the party attempting to woo a particular community.
The SP formed an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal in the 2022 Assembly elections, which had an impact in western Uttar Pradesh. However, the party did not achieve the expected success in areas like Noida, Ghaziabad, and Bulandshahr. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, after forming an alliance with the Congress, the SP performed better and won several seats.
SP leaders believe this rally is an important step towards creating an atmosphere for the 2027 Assembly elections. The party is focusing on strengthening its traditional vote bank as well as creating new social equations. This Dadri rally is considered a key part of the SP's strategy to strengthen its hold in western Uttar Pradesh.
