Lucknow: Due to continuous torrential rains, 17 districts have been hit by floods in Uttar Pradesh

In view of the seriousness of the situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the ministers in charge of flood-affected districts to immediately take responsibility for relief and rescue work in their respective areas.

He has also appealed to all the public representatives to actively participate in this work and said that every need of the affected people should be taken care of so that they can get timely help.

CM Yogi instructed the officials that no person should be troubled by the floods. Orders were given to take the affected people to safe places and provide all the necessary facilities for them. Along with this, he also laid special emphasis on the safety of cattle and making adequate arrangements for them so that no one faces any problem.

About two and a half lakh people were shifted to safer places.

According to Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami, 37 tehsils and 688 villages of the state are affected by floods, in which 2,45,980 people and 30,030 cattle have been shifted to safer places. A total of 27061 hectares of area has been affected by the floods. Relief material is being delivered with the help of 548 boats and motorboats in the relief work. On Wednesday, 1,904 food packets and 11,350 lunch packets were distributed.

996 flood posts established in the affected areas.

A total of 284 flood shelters are active, where 4,440 people are residing temporarily and their medical checkup is being done by 626 medical teams. The government has distributed 12,298 chlorine tablets and 4,422 ORS packets to prevent waterborne diseases. 996 flood posts have been set up in the affected areas, which are constantly monitoring the situation.

Which districts of Uttar Pradesh are flood affected?

Apart from Ballia, Bahraich, Badaun, Chandauli, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Meerut, Mirzapur, Muzaffarnagar, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, Prayagraj and Varanasi seem to be affected by the floods.
