Maharajganj: The Income Tax Department's raid on Shubham Hero motorcycle agency, linked to prominent Gorakhpur businessman Tanmay Modi, in Maharajganj district, continued for the third consecutive day. A team from Delhi has been conducting the investigation for over 50 hours.
According to sources, the operation is not limited to just one agency. Simultaneous raids are being conducted at a total of 36 locations associated with Tanmay Modi across Purvanchal (eastern Uttar Pradesh). These include two-wheeler and four-wheeler showrooms, rice mills, liquor manufacturing units, and other business establishments.
Due to the raid, operations at the Shubham Hero agency have come to a complete standstill. Showroom employees have been sent on leave, while customers are being turned away. A large number of PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) personnel are deployed at the agency premises.
