Dehradun: In protest of the recent increase in tariffs on Indian goods angry farmers set fire to an effigy of US President Donald Trump at Doiwala Nagar Chowk.
Farmers and Congress employees protested President Trump's decision to impose a 50% duty on Indian goods in Doiwala city by staging a procession yelling slogans and burning the effigy.
The demonstrators said that the traders of New India would not put up with Americas or its President's aggression at any cost and accused Trump of enforcing unfair standards that harm India. With anti-US slogans in hand the farmers marched to Nagar Chowk on Wednesday under the leadership of Kisan Sabha District President Daljit Singh.
The tariff hike was unwarranted according to Daljit Singh who also claimed that America was only acting to further its own interests and had no real concern for India. According to Kisan leader Harendra Baliyan the US had stabbed India in the back by raising tariffs and the country felt deceived.
