New Delhi: Voter fraud and the SIR issue are currently among the most talked-about issues in politics. The battle is becoming fierce from Parliament to public demonstrations. The Election Commission is the subject of ongoing criticism from the opposition particularly the Congress party. Gyanesh Kumar the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) had to step forward because the situation had gotten so dire. He gave Congress MP Rahul Gandhi a seven-day ultimatum during a press conference requesting that he either issue an apology or provide a legal affidavit substantiating his allegations. The issue didnt end there though.
Congress responded forcefully
In addition to stealing votes party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate charged that the Election Commission was haughty and evading difficult inquiries. Pawan Khera another Congress leader went further and claimed that the CECs press conference appeared to have been written by the BJP. The altercation is now becoming more intense.
Congress has launched a fierce attack on one side while the Election Commission has issued a warning on the other. Will Rahul Gandhi issue an apology provide an affidavit or carry on the fight? That is the key question. There is no doubt that this problem is now becoming a significant national political conflict.
