Panic Spreads on Social Media (Image Source: Internet)
New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tensions with Iran, a message is rapidly going viral on social media, claiming that a "War Lockdown" is being implemented across the country. This message is being circulated in the form of a PDF titled "WAR LOCKDOWN NOTICE."
The document has been designed to look exactly like an official government order. It even features the emblem of the Ashoka Chakra, leading people to mistake it for an authentic directive and begin sharing it widely.
This fake notice stated that, due to a state of war, a lockdown had been imposed on the country and that citizens should take immediate precautionary measures.
At first glance, the notice appeared so authentic that many people accepted it as the truth—without verifying its contents—and began forwarding it to others.
When people opened the PDF and examined it closely, the truth was revealed. It was not a government order at all; rather, it contained nothing more than an "April Fools'" message and an emoji.
In other words, the entire notice was created solely as a prank, with the specific intent of fooling people.
This fake notice went viral on April 1st—April Fools' Day. This is a day when such pranks and misleading posts are frequently shared across social media platforms. Consequently, many people failed to recognize it as a joke and were left in a state of panic.
The government has categorically stated that there are currently no plans or proposals to implement any form of lockdown in the country. This means that no such situation as a "War Lockdown" currently exists, and the circulating news is entirely false.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of how a single fake post can be used to spread fear and panic among the public. Experts advise:
