Lucknow: Tension prevailed in the Thakurganj area of Lucknow when Maulana Kalbe Jawad Naqvi, a prominent Shia cleric and General Secretary of the Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind, was attacked by some anti-social elements.

The incident occurred at Abbasbagh Karbala when the Maulana had arrived there to investigate illegal construction on Waqf land.

Attack on Maulana and death threat

When Maulana Kalbe Jawad arrived at Abbasbagh Karbala with some lawyers, he was surrounded by some people already present there. They surrounded his vehicle and attempted to vandalize it, and the Maulana and his companions were abused and threatened with death.

The attackers also attempted to damage the Maulana's vehicle. Police were present during the entire incident, but their role is being questioned.

Questions Raised on Police Inaction

The Maulana alleged that when he informed the police, they arrived at the scene very late. Furthermore, after arriving at the scene, instead of filming the attackers, the police continued to film the Maulana and his companions.

The Maulana says that the attackers attempted to vandalize the vehicle and attack in the presence of the police, but the police took no concrete action. This further deepened the suspicion that the police were in collusion with the other party.

Allegations of Illegal Occupation of Waqf Land

At the root of this incident is the Waqf property of Abbasbagh Karbala, on which illegal construction is allegedly taking place. According to the Maulana, he has been informing the administration about this illegal occupation for a long time, but no action has been taken.

Therefore, he personally visited the site to inspect it.

Hope from the Chief Minister

Maulana Kalbe Jawad said after the incident that he trusts the intentions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Just as the government has taken strict action against illegal constructions in other parts of the state, he hopes similar action will be taken against the Abbasbagh Karbala land.

Police Statement

Thakurganj Police Station in-charge Inspector Omveer Singh stated that he has received a complaint in this matter and the police are investigating. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation.

This incident not only raises questions about law and order but also demonstrates the seriousness of the issue of illegal occupation of religious sites and Waqf properties.
