Alcoholic Father Kills 20-Year-Old Daughter for Wanting to Study and Build Her Career

Pilibhit: A shocking incident has come to light from Bisalpur area of Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, where a 20-year-old BA student was allegedly shot dead by her father after a dispute over her desire to study further and become financially independent.

The victim, identified as Anshika Gangwar, reportedly wanted to pursue a professional course along with her graduation and build a career outside the village. However, her father allegedly opposed her ambitions and wanted her to get married.

Argument Turns Into Murder

According to police, the incident took place on Friday evening in Rampura Naugawan village under Bisalpur police station limits. Anshika’s father Ajay Pal Gangwar, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, returned home and got into an argument with his daughter. As the dispute escalated, he allegedly took out a .315 bore country-made pistol and shot Anshika in the head.

The bullet reportedly hit the left side of her head, and she died on the spot.

Mother Tried to Stop Fight, Father Escaped

During the argument, Anshika’s mother Shweta Gangwar reportedly tried to intervene and calm the situation, but the accused allegedly refused to listen. After the shooting, Ajay Pal Gangwar fled from the spot before police reached the location. Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing the gunshot and informed the police.

Police Launch Search Operation

Police received information about the incident at around 6:10 AM. Bisalpur Circle Officer Rahul and Station House Officer Sanjeev Kumar Shukla reached the spot along with a police team. The Superintendent of Police has formed three teams to trace and arrest the accused father.

Police are investigating the exact motive behind the murder. Family members have stated that Anshika, the eldest among four siblings, was focused on her education and wanted to create an identity separate from her father’s reputation.

An FIR was yet to be registered late Friday night as police were awaiting a formal complaint from the family.
