Guwahati: Serious allegations of corruption have been leveled against Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer Nupur Bora in Guwahati, the capital of Assam. On Monday, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Team raided Nupur Bora's house and seized her undeclared assets. The team seized cash worth about Rs 92 lakh and jewelry worth about Rs 1 crore from her house. Apart from this, Rs 10 lakh in cash was also recovered from her rented house in Barpeta.
Nupur Bora, who joined the Assam Civil Service in 2019, was currently posted as Circle Officer in Goroimari in the Kamrup district. The police have arrested her due to the suspicious source of her property. It is reported that this property is worth much more than her income, which she could not prove properly.

He said that during her service in Barpeta, Nupur Bora assisted in registering government and Satra land in the name of suspicious people, whom they refer to as "Miya." "Miya" is a term used for the Bengali-speaking Muslim community in Assam, whom the BJP party often accuses of being "illegal intruders."
The Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Team also raided the house of Lat Mandal Surjit Deka, an alleged associate of Nupur Bora, who works in the Revenue Department of Barpeta. He is accused of illegally acquiring several lands in Barpeta in connivance with Nupur Bora.

The Chief Minister said that corruption is widespread in the revenue cycles of minority-dominated areas of Assam. This case once again highlights the problem of illegal transfer of land and bribery in Assam.
The case also has political seriousness, as it is being linked to the issues of communalism and illegal immigration, which are an important part of Assam's local politics.
