The sudden death of young preacher Sadhvi Prem Baisa after receiving an injection has raised troubling questions. With an Instagram post surfacing hours later, Rajasthan police have formed an SIT to probe all angles of the case.

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the suspicious death of religious preacher Sadhvi Prem Baisa in Jodhpur. Police officials confirmed on Saturday that the case has been registered as an unnatural death following a complaint filed by her father, Veeram Nath.
According to officials, ACP Chhavi Sharma has been appointed as the head of the SIT. The team also includes the Boranada police station officer and a cyber expert to examine digital evidence related to the case.

Police said an FIR has been lodged under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with cases of unnatural death. Authorities stated that the investigation will focus on all circumstances leading up to Prem Baisa’s death, including medical treatment and digital activity.
Officials added that the SIT has been given full authority to conduct a detailed and impartial probe.
Sadhvi Prem Baisa, believed to be between 23 and 25 years old, was staying at her ashram in Pal village on the outskirts of Jodhpur when her health reportedly worsened on the evening of January 28.
Sources said she had been suffering from fever and was receiving in-house treatment. When her condition deteriorated, a compounder was called to the ashram and administered an injection. Shortly after, her health declined rapidly. She was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead at around 5:30 pm.
ACP West Chhavi Sharma said Prem Baisa was taken to the hospital by her father and a young man in a car around 6 pm. After medical examination, doctors confirmed that she had already died before arrival.
Police said they are verifying details related to the medication administered and the qualifications of the person who gave the injection.

The case took a dramatic turn when a post, described as a suicide note, appeared on Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s official Instagram account hours after her death. In the post, she mentioned an “agnipariksha” or trial by fire and expressed hope that justice would prevail after her death.
Investigators said the authenticity, timing and authorship of the post will be closely examined by cyber experts.
Following the news, a large number of devotees gathered at the ashram, raising slogans and demanding a transparent investigation. Police said crowd control arrangements were made to maintain law and order.
Officials confirmed that the SIT will examine medical records, digital evidence, and witness statements to uncover the truth behind the young sadhvi’s death.
