UP: Kanwariya killed after electrocution mishap in Faridabad

Faridabad: A Kanwariya who was bringing Dak Kanwar from Haridwar with his companions came in contact with high tension line while chanting Jaikara.

During treatment, the doctor declared him dead. The Kanwariya standing with him also got burnt in the accident. This accident with the Kanwariya of Lahdola village happened in front of Faridpur village in Greater Faridabad.

The police got the post-mortem done of the deceased and handed over the body to the relatives. The place where the accident happened was only four kilometers away from Lahdola village.

Sandeep, a resident of Lahdola village, said that his nephew Ravi went to Haridwar with his friends to take Dak Kanwar on 19th July.

He had to offer water in the village temple on Shivratri on Wednesday. In the morning, his Dak Kanwar Yatra was passing near Faridpur village.

During that time, while chanting Jaikara, Ravi's hand touched the high tension line passing overhead. Due to which he got electrocuted.

He was taken to a private hospital. Where the doctors declared Ravi dead. Anil, who was standing with Ravi, also got electrocuted. Due to which he got seriously injured. He was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The deceased's uncle Sandeep told that Ravi used to work in a private factory. Father Satpal works in agriculture.

Sandeep said that if the high tension line was not down, his nephew would not have died. He was only four kilometers away from his village.

One person died and 13 Kanwariyas got burnt in the last one year. Last year also in Tigaon, Kanwariyas going to take Dak Kanwar came in contact with the high tension line. Due to which one Kanwariya Nitin died.

The remaining 14 Kanwariyas were seriously injured. In 2023, two people including an 11-year-old died due to electrocution while going to take Kanwar in Bhatola village. Eight people were also injured in this accident.

Guidelines were issued, but police could not implement them

At the beginning of Sawan, a guideline was issued by the traffic police regarding Dak Kanwar that it should not be more than five feet.

But Dak Kanwars of seven to eight feet were also seen. Despite this, no action was taken by the traffic police. The result of which came in the form of an accident.
