New Delhi: Bones are a vital part of our bodies, supporting our bodies. They provide shape, structure, and support. Furthermore, they also protect our internal organs. Therefore, we must take bone health seriously. In our daily lives, we engage in many activities and eat foods that weaken our bones. Here, we're sharing these foods and mistakes.
1. Eating too much salt isn't good.
Salt is essential for the body, but only in a certain amount. A healthy person should consume no more than 5 grams (one teaspoon) of salt per day. The more salt you consume, the more calcium is removed from your body. This leaves your bones without enough calcium, leading to weakening.
The problem is further compounded when, in addition to salt in our food, we also consume salt from outside foods like snacks, biscuits, and chips, which adds excess salt to our bodies and harms us. Therefore, you need to limit your salt intake.
2. Sugar is also harmful to bones
According to a report by the Cleveland Clinic, a US medical agency, sugar-rich foods increase inflammation and insulin. If insulin levels rise too high, it can lead to low blood pressure (hypoglycemia). These foods also remove nutrients like calcium and magnesium from the body, creating deficiencies. Therefore, avoid sugar and sweetened beverages.
3. Cold Drinks
Excessive consumption of cold drinks can also harm your bones. Although more research is needed, some studies have found that they contain sugar, caffeine, and other ingredients that deplete calcium from the bones.
4. A sedentary lifestyle is also harmful
It's okay to enjoy your favorite show. But spending hours on the couch staring at a screen isn't a good idea. When you get used to resting, you don't move as much as needed, which weakens your bones. Exercise and physical activity strengthen them. So, make sure to engage in some form of physical activity every day.
