Ottawa: Anti-India leader Jagmeet Singh and his party NDP have suffered a huge defeat in the Canadian general election. The NDP managed to get only 7 seats, while Jagmeet Singh lost his seat, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

After this crushing defeat, he has resigned from the party leadership. This defeat will have a profound impact on his controversies related to Khalistani supporters and his political future.

The fall of pro-Khalistan Jagmeet Singh

Canada's prominent Sikh leader and pro-Khalistan Jagmeet Singh has suffered a major setback in this election. His party NDP got only 7 seats, while in the last election (2021) he got 25 seats. Jagmeet Singh himself stood third in his seat and lost the election. After this, he got emotional and announced his resignation from the party leadership.

After the defeat, Jagmeet said – "I did not let my movement weaken, but the public did not accept it. I am disappointed but did not lose. I will continue to struggle."

Jagmeet Singh's controversial political journey

Jagmeet Singh belongs to the Sikh community and is one of the most well-known politicians in Canada. Before joining politics, he was a lawyer and was active in matters related to the Khalistan movement.

He has been accused of providing legal aid to Khalistan supporters, due to which India has banned him. Sikhs are a minority in Canada (2.1% of the total population), and Jagmeet used the Khalistan issue to strengthen his politics.

Trudeau's Liberal Party returns, will Mark Carney become the new PM?

Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party is once again on its way to power. The party is estimated to get 168 seats, while 172 seats are needed to form the government.

However, this time Trudeau himself will not become the Prime Minister, but Mark Carney can be made the new Prime Minister as per the internal decision of the party. The Conservative Party is expected to get around 145 seats, which has once again pushed them away from power.

This defeat of Jagmeet Singh not only signals the end of his political career but has also dealt a blow to the Khalistani agenda in Canada. At the same time, the return of Trudeau's party can bring new dynamism to Canada-India relations.
