Rome/Buenos Aires: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Argentine President Javier Milei have jointly adopted the Italy-Argentina Action Plan 2025-2030 aimed at dramatically strengthening bilateral ties, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

The move was made during Milei's visit to Rome on Friday, his first stop on a ten-day swing through Europe and Israel. The plan, announced in broad terms during Meloni's visit to Argentina last November, facilitates cooperation between Rome and Buenos Aires in an array of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, critical raw materials, aviation, space and tourism.

It also strengthens security and judicial cooperation, including the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking. Following the adoption of the plan, implementation will be carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of both countries.

Meloni and Milei met for around two hours late on Friday. According to a statement from Meloni's office, the leaders discussed "strengthening the already strong bilateral partnership between Italy and Argentina, based on shared values and on deep cultural links between the two nations."

Both leaders, according to the statement, expressed their support for greater cooperation between the European Union and the South American trade bloc Mercosur. Italy and Argentina possess long standing historical ties, with millions of Argentinians, Milei himself having their roots in Italy, following the mass immigration of Italians to Argentina during the early 19th century.

Due to this, Italian culture has greatly influenced Argentinian society. With both countries facing economic stagnation in the recent years, along with the ideological synergy of both the respective heads of state, the plan aims to unlock economic potential and address mutual challenges.
