Kathmandu: Nepal Prime Minister Sushila Karki expanded her cabinet on Monday. Rameshwar Khanal, Om Prakash Aryal and Kul Man Ghising were sworn in as new ministers. Rameshwar Khanal has been appointed Finance Minister, Om Prakash Aryal Home Minister and Kul Man Ghising Energy Minister. Along with this, Aryal has also been given the additional responsibility of the Ministry of Law, while Ghising has the responsibility of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development in addition to Energy.
Rameshwar Khanal has been a former secretary and chairman of the Economic Reform Suggestion Commission. Om Prakash Aryal is a lawyer by profession. Kulman Ghising is the former executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, who was earlier sacked in the Oli government. Ghising's name has also been in the news for the post of Prime Minister.

President Ram Chandra Paudel on Friday appointed Sushila Karki as the head of the interim government, who took office on Sunday. Karki has time till March 5 to hold fresh elections and vacate the post for a new prime minister. After this, Parliament will elect a new Prime Minister. The cabinet expansion was pushed forward from Sunday due to his busy schedule.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has arrested 79 prisoners along the Indo-Nepal border, who were absconding from various jails in Nepal. These include two Nigerians, a Brazilian and a Bangladeshi, aged between 29 and 40 years.
