Islamabad: Pakistan is witnessing the wrath of heavy rain and flood once again, especially in Punjab province, the roads are flooded with water since the onset of monsoon.
Apart from this, life is also disrupted due to floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and some other provinces. It has been told that the situation started deteriorating since the pre-monsoon rains started in the whole country from June.
Since then, more than 250 people have lost their lives due to rain and floods in the neighboring country. Apart from this, hundreds of people have gone missing. A large number of the dead are children.
This year, the monsoon had covered the entire country by June 25 in Pakistan. However, due to western disturbances and some other seasonal reasons, the period of rain has been continuing in Pakistan since the beginning of June. More than 250 people have died since June. In the last three weeks alone, more than 178 people have died due to rain and floods in Pakistan.

At the same time, 471 have been injured. More than 85 of the total deaths during this period are children. According to Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority, on Thursday alone, 63 people have died due to rain and floods, while 227 have been injured.
Pakistan's Punjab province has been most affected by rain and floods. In the capital Lahore, the low-lying areas were flooded due to intermittent rains for the entire last week. The streets in these areas are so narrow that even after the power goes out, arrangements could not be made to repair them.
Most of the areas of central and south Punjab are also in the grip of floods. Heavy rains are expected in the coming days. A similar situation is also in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where the Swat river is in spate.
Pakistan blames the international community for the worsening of the situation due to heavy rains and floods in its country. Pakistan says that it contributes only 0.5 percent to global greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, but its citizens are most at risk due to climate change caused by it. According to the United Nations (UN), the risk of death of people in Pakistan due to disasters is 15 times higher than in other countries.
