Norway: The United States has issued its first reaction following the announcement that Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado has received the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. The White House said the Nobel Committee has proven that they prioritize politics over peace.

Politics Over Peace: United States

The Oval Office stated that by awarding Machado this prestigious prize, the Nobel Committee has prioritized politics over peace. White House Communications Director Steven Chueng posted on Twitter, "The Nobel Committee ignored US President Donald Trump's efforts to promote peace. Despite this, Trump will continue to strive for peace. He will continue to end wars and save lives. He is a man of human compassion."

Maria Corina Will Inspire Millions

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has announced that it has awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machado for promoting the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people. The Nobel Committee further stated that despite facing grave threats to her life, Maria Corina continued her work. Her election will surely inspire millions.

These Countries Nominated Trump

The awarding of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuela's Maria Corina Machado has dealt a severe blow to Trump's hopes. Since coming to power for a second time, he has been vying for the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming to have ended wars in several countries. Countries such as Israel, Russia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Thailand, Armenia, and Cambodia have nominated the US President.

This year, 338 nominations were received for the prestigious award, including nominations from 94 organizations and 244 individuals from various fields. Trump claimed that he was the first person in history to resolve eight wars in a period of nine months.

Why Trump Rejected

Despite the media attention and his bold claims, experts say Trump's nomination was never seriously considered. According to Nobel Committee Chairman Jørgen Vatne Friednes, the Peace Prize is fully in keeping with Alfred Nobel's wishes, which honor those who have done "the most or the best work for fraternity among nations."

Analysts pointed out that the "wars" Trump claimed to have ended were not active armed conflicts, and US involvement in most of those peace efforts was limited or controversial. For example, the Israel-Iran ceasefire occurred after US airstrikes on Iranian targets, which critics say undermined Trump's "peace" credentials.
