New Delhi: The US shutdown, which has been ongoing for the past 43 days, is now on the verge of ending. US senators have approved the bill to end it.

According to information shared by the White House, US President Donald Trump signed the bill today. Trump's signature marks the end of the US shutdown.

Impact of the shutdown on government employees
The passage of the bill ending the shutdown in the US House of Representatives on Wednesday erupted in loud applause. Many lawmakers cheered and embraced each other. Some even walked out of the House during the voting. The bill passed the House by a vote of 222 to 209. Upon the passage, Trump announced that he would sign it soon.

The shutdown has left federal employees without pay, passengers stranded at airports, and people waiting in lines outside food banks to buy food for their families.

What is the reason for Democrats' anger?
Democratic Party lawmakers are believed to be very upset with this bill. They say they failed to secure an extension of healthcare subsidies in the Senate agreement. The first procedural vote in the House was 213-209, paving the way for a final vote. Democrats alleged that despite a 40-day struggle, they had not achieved any progress on their main demands.
