Srinagar: More than ten devotees were injured when three buses collided during the Amarnath Yatra convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in Khudwani area of Kulgam. The accident took place near Tachlu crossing when three buses of the Yatra convoy going towards Baltal collided with each other, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The wonded devotees were immediately taken to the nearest hospital. A doctor of Qaimoh Hospital informed that about nine devotees have been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag after giving first aid.
The doctor said that the injuries of all the injured devotees are minor and their condition is stable. They have been sent to GMC Anantnag for better treatment and formalities.
The police have started investigating the incident and the security arrangements are being reviewed.
The administration has taken all necessary steps to take care of the pilgrims and instructions have been given to ensure the convenience and safety of the passengers.
The Police said that 'The accident happened near Tachlu crossing when the buses of the Yatra convoy going towards Baltal collided with each other. After the accident, the injured pilgrims were immediately given first aid in a nearby hospital. The seriously injured pilgrims were sent to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag.'
'However, none of the injured pilgrims have suffered any serious injuries. The front glass of many buses broke. The injured passengers were sent to the hospital and the remaining passengers were shifted to other vehicles. As soon as the information about the accident was received, Kulgam police and local administration officials reached the spot and started investigating the matter,' added the Police.

The Yatra was inaugurated on July 3 by LG Manoj Sinha. The Amarnath Yatra is being held amid tight security after 26 people were killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
As many as 34 residential centers have been set up in Jammu city and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags are being issued to the pilgrims. The entire route of the Amarnath Yatra is being monitored by the security forces.
It has been about 10 days since the Amarnath Yatra started. On the 10th day, about 19,020 devotees visited the ice Shivling in the holy cave. From the beginning of the Yatra over 1.80 lakh devotees have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine.
