The Karnataka government has said that Royal Challengers Bengaluru did not take any permission from the city police in advance to organize the IPL Vijay Parade on June 4.
The Karnataka government presented this report to everyone today, Thursday, July 17. The state government has given a report to the High Court had sought to keep the report confidential, but the court said that such a request has no legal basis.
According to the report submitted by the Karnataka government, RCB had informed the police on June 3 itself that they could hold the parade, but they had not formally taken permission. Not only this, the police was not given the necessary seven-day notice by RCB, so that they could estimate the crowd, manage traffic and be prepared for any emergency.
According to the report, the police inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station did not allow the application of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for 6:30 pm on June 3, 2025, because by then there were both possibilities of RCB winning and losing, so no arrangements were made.
RCB announced on social media at 7:01 am on June 4 that a parade would be taken out from the Legislative Assembly to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which would have free entry. Later, a post released by RCB also said that there would be a limited number of entries.
While the capacity of Chinnaswamy Stadium was only 35 thousand people, more than three lakh people reached there that day. The report also said that there was a lot of confusion in the crowd regarding the entry system, due to which the crowd panicked. The gates of the stadium also did not open on time, due to which the crowd broke some doors. The Karnataka government said at the end of the report that this accident happened due to poor planning, lack of coordination and non-compliance of procedure on the part of RCB as well as co-organizers.
At the same time, the Karnataka government has approved to run a criminal case against RCB and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in the Bengaluru stampede case. The report of Justice Michael D'Cunha Commission was approved in the cabinet meeting. This decision has been taken after accepting the decision. In such a situation, the trouble for RCB has increased even more.
