Earlier Maharashtra Police Control Room received an anonymous email warning of a bomb explosion within the next 48 hours. Police said that in the message the location or the time of the blast is not mentioned, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The threat message was sent to the Mumbai Police to further probe the matter and try to trace the sender. The threat email reportedly said that a bomb blast could occur in Maharashtra or outside the state.
An investigation is ongoing, and the authorities were working to find the sender and have urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, and report any suspicious activity immediately to the authorities.
The threat comes at a time when national security has been tightened keeping the tense situation between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 where 26 tourists were killed.
Although India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, Indian forces are quite alert as Pakistan violated the ceasefire multiple times which was initially announced on the evening of May 10.
On Monday Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a high-level meeting with armed forces. The CM underscored the need for enhanced collaboration and intelligence sharing between state and Central agencies, focusing on cybersecurity and protection of Mumbai.

Khar police station has registered an offence and have initiated an investigation, since the threat originated internationally, the Mumbai Police may need to seek assistance from central agencies, sources added.
