Voting was held on June 19 for the five seats in the four states. However, after problems at some places in Gujarat, the Election Commission ordered re-poll. Re-polling was held on June 21. The results of the by-elections will not affect the power of any state, but if the Aam Aadmi Party wins in Punjab, the way will be clear for AAP to get a Rajya Sabha MP. It is being speculated that if AAP wins in Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal can go to Rajya Sabha.
