New Delhi: Amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in nine states and three union territories, there is considerable confusion among voters regarding the submission of their enumeration forms. In many areas, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are unable to reach homes. Meanwhile, those who have submitted their forms are unsure whether their forms have actually been updated in the system. To address this growing concern, the Election Commission has launched a new facility that allows voters to check the status of their forms from the comfort of their homes.

Election Commission Provides Online Verification Facility

The Election Commission has clarified that voters can now check whether their SIR enumeration form has been uploaded online by the BLO by visiting the portal voters.eci.gov.in/enumeration-form-new. This facility is available for all states and union territories where the SIR process is ongoing.

The ECI has developed a simple four-step process on its portal so that any voter can check the status of their form within minutes.

How to Check Status Online

The Election Commission has provided a very simple method to check whether the SIR form has been submitted.

1. Open the website

First, open the voters.eci.gov.in website and select the "Fill Enumeration Form" option.

2. Log in

Users who are already registered can log in by entering their mobile number/EPIC number, captcha, and OTP. New users will need to sign up first.

3. Select State and EPIC Number

After logging in, select the state and enter your EPIC (Voter ID) number.

4. Check Status on Screen

If the BLO has uploaded your form, a message will appear on the screen: "Your form has been successfully submitted."

If this message does not appear, it means the form has not been uploaded yet and a blank enumeration form will open.

What to do if incorrect information or errors are found?

If incorrect information is displayed on the portal or the form doesn't appear to be submitted, voters should contact their BLO. The Election Commission has stated that BLOs are processing forms in different stages, so some delays are possible.

If the form appears completely blank, it means the BLO hasn't uploaded it, or you may need to resubmit the form online.

Why is online verification important?

The Election Commission states that the SIR form plays a crucial role in creating an accurate voter list. Sometimes, voters' names are missing from the list due to incorrect entries or delayed uploading.

Through the digitized verification system, voters can now ensure that:

  • Their form has been uploaded correctly
  • There are no technical errors
  • Their name will be included in the upcoming draft voter list

The ECI stated that checking the form status takes only one to two minutes, so every voter should complete this process.
