Mirwaiz's Grief and Claim of Detention

Mirwaiz Maulvi Omar Farooq expressed deep sorrow over the losses in Ladakh. He attributed the situation to the fragmentation of Jammu and Kashmir and unfulfilled promises. Mirwaiz claimed that he has been placed under house arrest by the administration and that barbed wire has been erected around his house. He called the restrictions on meetings of religious organizations ridiculous.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said that the violence in Ladakh is the result of the central government's wrong policies. She said that the people of Ladakh want to be included in the Sixth Schedule to protect their identity, culture, land, and employment, but the promises have not been fulfilled. He rejected the BJP's accusation that the Congress instigated the violence, calling it a natural public outrage.

Lieutenant Governor's Security Review Meeting

Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta held a high-level security review meeting following the increased violence in Ladakh. He called for increased vigilance to maintain peace and security. Senior police, CRPF, and administration officials also attended the meeting and conducted a thorough analysis of the current situation.

Central Government Response

The central government alleged that the mob violence was inspired by inflammatory statements by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and that some political elements wanted to disrupt the ongoing dialogue between the government and Ladakhi representatives.
