While the pleasant weather has brought relief from humidity, the air quality remains a concern. The city’s AQI slipped into the ‘poor’ category in several areas due to stubble burning in neighboring states. Across Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Varanasi, a similar cooling trend was observed. The state capital recorded a low of 19°C, while Kanpur touched 14.8°C, making it one of the season’s chilliest mornings.
The IMD said the state will continue to experience dry and clear weather for the next few days with no rainfall expected. As temperatures continue to dip, residents can expect colder mornings and evenings approaching Diwali. Farmers, however, have welcomed the mild chill, as it supports early preparation for the rabi crop season.
In the hill state of Uttarakhand, the arrival of winter is even more pronounced. Kedarnath and Chamoli districts witnessed light snowfall over the weekend, drawing tourists to the upper Himalayan region. Day temperatures in Dehradun stayed near 26°C, while higher altitudes in Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi recorded lows between 8°C and 10°C.
