New Delhi: A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Leh was forced to return to Delhi shortly after takeoff on Tuesday morning due to a technical snag. The pilot made a precautionary emergency landing after noticing sparks in one of the plane's engines. The plane was carrying approximately 150 passengers. Fortunately, all passengers and crew are safe.

Technical snag detected after takeoff

According to reports, SpiceJet flight SG121 departed from Delhi for Leh on Tuesday morning. The aircraft was a Boeing 737 model. Shortly after takeoff, sparks were reported in one of the plane's engines. Regarding the situation, the pilot immediately took precautionary measures and decided to return the plane to Delhi. The plane took off at approximately 6:08 am and landed safely in Delhi at approximately 6:49 am.

Emergency Preparations Made at Delhi Airport

As soon as Air Traffic Control was informed of the technical problem with the aircraft, preparations for an emergency landing were initiated at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Security agencies and emergency services were alerted to handle any eventuality. However, the aircraft landed safely on the runway and no untoward incidents occurred. Passengers were subsequently deplaned normally.

SpiceJet Provides Information on the Incident

A SpiceJet spokesperson stated that a flight from Delhi to Leh on February 24th experienced a technical problem and had to return to Delhi. According to the spokesperson, the aircraft landed safely and all passengers were disembarked normally. He also clarified that there was no fire warning in the cockpit. Prioritizing safety, the pilot decided to return the aircraft as a precaution.

Flight Delay

Details have also emerged regarding the flight's flight schedule. According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the flight was scheduled to depart at 5:55 am, but the actual takeoff occurred around 6:21 am. The plane was diverted back to Delhi after a technical problem was detected shortly after takeoff.

A technical investigation of the aircraft has been initiated following the incident.
