EC started Preparations for revision of voter list

The voter list of 2008 is available on the website of the Chief Election Officer of Delhi, when the last revision was done in the national capital.

New Delhi: The Election Commission has started preparations for the Special Revision (SIR) of the voter list across India from next month. This revision will be similar to the special revision going on in Bihar. This step has been taken by the Election Commission when last week the Supreme Court termed it a constitutional obligation and allowed the Election Commission to continue this process in Bihar. Let us tell you that some opposition parties and other organizations had challenged this decision of the Election Commission in the Supreme Court against this revision, saying that this could give eligible citizens the right to vote.

In which states and when was the special revision done?

Now some state election officers have made public the voter list published after the last special revision done in those states. The voter list of 2008 is available on the website of the Chief Election Officer of Delhi, when the last revision was done in the national capital. The last revision in Uttarakhand was done in 2006, and now the list of that year is on the state website.

Final decision on nationwide revision after July 28

The Election Commission has said that after hearing the Bihar case on July 28, it will take a final decision on nationwide revision. Under this process, foreign illegal immigrants will be removed by checking their birthplace.
