Mumbai: Following a key meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in Mumbai, India and France announced the upgrade of their bilateral relationship to a "Special Global Strategic Partnership." A total of 21 key decisions were announced in areas such as defense, technology, innovation, startups, critical minerals, advanced materials, health, and skill development.
The two leaders also virtually inaugurated the Tata-Airbus H125 light utility helicopter final assembly line in Vemgal, Karnataka. Prime Minister Modi stated that India and France will jointly develop a helicopter capable of flying to the height of Mount Everest and will also be exported. This project will strengthen India's aeronautical manufacturing capabilities and promote a "self-reliant India."
President Macron described India as France's most trusted partner and said that defense cooperation, from Rafale aircraft to submarines, is steadily growing. The two countries also agreed to continue working together against terrorism and strengthen the principles of the rule of law.
During the meeting, the Indo-French Center for AI in Health, Digital Science and Technology, and the National Center of Excellence for Aeronautics Skilling were launched. The Prime Minister said that these institutions are platforms for building the future.
Prime Minister Modi said that the India-France partnership will be a force for stability and progress amid global uncertainties. He described this relationship as extending "from the deepest seas to the highest mountains."
