New Delhi: The Indian government has reacted sharply to the nuclear threat given to India by Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir from US soil. The Foreign Ministry described it as part of Pakistan's "irresponsible nuclear policy" and said that such statements pose a threat to regional and global security.
India clarified that Munir's statement raises questions on the credibility of Pakistan's nuclear command and control system. The government regretted that such a threat was given from the soil of a friendly nation like the US. India warned that it would not tolerate nuclear blackmailing and would take every necessary step for national security.
Government sources described Munir's statement as extremely irresponsible. They said that while on the one hand Pakistan lacks democratic processes, on the other hand the army has complete control. In such a situation, the presence of nuclear weapons in the hands of non-governmental elements is a serious threat to global security.
Munir had threatened during a program in Tampa, USA, that if Pakistan feels an existential threat from India, it will "drown half the world with it." He also talked about targeting dams on the Indus River, which India has considered a direct threat of war.
Munir is currently on an official visit to the US, where he attended the farewell ceremony of Centcom Commander General Michael Kurilla. India has also questioned the US on this incident as to why it allowed its soil to be used for such threats.
This incident can prove to be a fresh escalation of India-Pakistan tensions, especially when the economic and political crisis in Pakistan is deepening. India has made it clear that it will take any kind of nuclear threat seriously and will take appropriate retaliation.
How big is the loss expected for India due to tariff?
Some experts believe that India is not going to suffer any major loss due to the announcement of 50% tariff imposed by the US on India. 95% of India's exports are not expected to be affected by US tariff. According to experts, India's total exports in the financial year 2024-25 were $ 820 billion.
In which the part affected due to tariff is only 4.8%. This means that only about $ 40 billion of Indian exports can be affected by US tariff. There is no possibility of any impact on the remaining $ 780 billion of Indian exports at the moment. According to experts, electronics, pharma, auto parts, metals and service sectors are not expected to be affected by tariff at the moment.
