The report has been submitted to the Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjiv Khanna.
The Supreme Court Collegium constituted a three-member inquiry committee on March 21 and asked it to submit its report to the Chief Justice on the allegations against Justice Yashwant Varma. The three-member inquiry committee has now submitted its report, on that CJI will make a decision.
After the cash scandal, the Supreme Court transferred Justice Yashwant Varma from Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court.
However, initially the High Court lawyers opposed the transfer of Justice Varma to Allahabad, because Justice Varma was surrounded by allegations of cash scandal. The Supreme Court clarified that transfer and allegations are two different things.
Many big questions were raised regarding the huge amount of cash found at Justice Varma's residence and the matter has been making headlines in the media. The Supreme Court also questioned Justice Varma in the matter of cash found from his house. Many questions were also asked of Justice Varma. But Justice Varma rejected all the allegations.
Burnt notes were found at Justice Varma's Delhi residence on the morning of March 15, 2025. At that time he was out of Delhi and videos of burnt cash went viral on social media.
Now it remains to be seen what comes out in the report of the three-judge inquiry committee in this case related to Justice Varma.
