Weather Takes a Turn in Delhi-NCR
New Delhi: Today Delhi's weather is set to undergo a complete transformation. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a persistent possibility of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds throughout the day. Dense clouds will blanket the sky right from the morning, resulting in very little sunshine. Rain may persist across all parts of the day—morning, afternoon, evening, and night.
Accompanying the weather shift will be strong winds, with speeds potentially reaching up to 30–40 km/h. These winds will make the weather feel cooler and slightly unsettled. The gusty conditions may also cause disruptions in several areas.
According to the IMD, the maximum daytime temperature is expected to hover around 29°C; however, due to the rain and winds, it will feel cooler than the actual reading. The minimum temperature may remain slightly below normal levels. Humidity levels in the air are likely to range between 60% and 90%, which may make the weather feel slightly muggy.
Caution is paramount during this period of changing weather. Avoid venturing out into open spaces during thunderstorms and lightning. Stay away from trees, utility poles, and unstable structures. Carry an umbrella or a raincoat when stepping out.
Exercise caution while driving, as roads may become slippery. Staying indoors during adverse weather conditions is considered the safest option.
Thanks to the rain and cool winds, Delhi residents will experience temporary relief from the heat. With temperatures remaining below 30°C, the weather will feel pleasant; however, this respite is not expected to last for many days.
According to the IMD, the weather is expected to gradually clear up starting March 21st. Between March 22nd and 24th, light cloud cover and isolated drizzles may occur in some areas. Subsequently, temperatures will rise again and could reach 32–34°C.
Overall, the weather in Delhi on March 20th will undergo a complete shift—rain, thunderstorms, and cool winds will offer relief from the heat, but the heat will make a comeback within just a few days.
