Uttarakhand: Heavy rain alert in state; Schools closed in many districts after landslide warning

Dehradun: The Meteorological Department Dehradun has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain and lightning in the areas around Roorkee Haridwar on Friday.

Due to continuous rain, there is a possibility of overflowing of drains and landslides. Due to which DM Haridwar Mayur Dixit has instructed to keep all government, non-government, recognized schools and Anganwadi centers closed today.

The administration has issued a warning to people to be cautious and not to go near the banks of rivers and drains.

It has been raining in Bageshwar since night.

Schools from 1 to 12 are closed. Traffic is closed due to debris on 17 roads. There is a crisis of electricity and water. Heavy rain continues in Pithoragarh since night. Holiday has been declared in schools in all the development blocks of Pithoragarh district due to the weather.

Schools closed

Schools from class 1 to 12 have been closed in Munsyari. NH Ghat has also been closed. Due to this the district has lost connectivity with other districts. Nainital is covered in fog.

It has been raining in Paavat since night. Holiday has been declared in Anganwadi centers and schools up to 12th standard. It has been raining continuously since midnight in Ranikhet and surrounding areas. People's lives have been disrupted.

It rained intermittently throughout the night in Almora. Four rural roads have been closed due to debris.
