New Delhi: Monsoon has made its strong presence felt across the country this time. From Delhi-NCR to Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh, heavy showers are covering every place, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The Indian Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in northwest, central, east and northeastern India till 4 July. On Saturday, the weather suddenly changed in Delhi-NCR after noon.
Dark clouds made the day feel like night and torrential rains with strong winds drenched the entire area. People got relief from the humid heat, but waterlogging created problems in many areas. Traffic came to a standstill due to waterlogging on the roads and people faced problems in commuting.
At the same time, rain also gained momentum in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Heavy rains were recorded with strong winds in Andaman Nicobar, coastal Karnataka, Saurashtra, Kutch and northeastern states.
In Kerala, amid an orange alert, continuous rain in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad disrupted life. Torrential rains in areas like Mayurbhanj in Odisha since night created the problem of waterlogging.
At the same time, rain is likely to continue in Delhi on Sunday as well. The IMD has issued a yellow alert warning of light to moderate rain, lightning and winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph. The temperature in Delhi may remain 34 degrees Celsius (maximum) and 26 degrees Celsius (minimum).
Apart from this, rain has caused havoc in the hilly states. Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri highways remained closed for hours due to landslides in Uttarakhand. About 3,000 devotees were stranded due to landslides in Chamoli and the administration is busy opening the highway.

Although rain in Delhi-NCR gave relief to people from the heat, it remains a cause of trouble in other parts of the country.
