New Delhi: Heavy rains and floods have been seen in many parts of the country during the last one week. The most damage has been done in the mountainous states of North India, plains and Gujarat. However, now the pace of monsoon is expected to stop between 8 and 15 September.

In fact, the low-pressure area that passed through Central India had taken the form of a deep depression and caused heavy rains in South Rajasthan and North Gujarat. During this time, rainfall was also recorded much more than normal in Northwest India, Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka. However, now the cyclonic circulation formed in the Bay of Bengal will maintain the monsoon rains for the time being. This system will continue to roam there for the next 4–5 days and will move towards the interiors in a weak form on 12–13 September. But its effect will be limited only to coastal and central India. Since the time of departure of monsoon is near, such systems now become weak in reaching Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.

Private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather says that for the next one week, there will be very little rain in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh and the west coast. At the same time, there will be widespread moderate rain in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. While rain will also be active again in Northeast India. Apart from this, in the case of weak monsoon, rain also increases in parts of South India. During this time, moderate rains are expected in coastal Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern peninsular areas. In comparison to the torrential rains of the last 10 days, the average daily rainfall is now expected to be much less at the pan-India level next week.

The agency estimates that the deep depression currently present in Pakistan will gradually weaken. Its remaining effect will remain in Gujarat only for the next 24 hours. No new active Western Disturbance is being formed in the hilly states of North India either. In such a situation, the weather will remain almost dry in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, North Madhya Pradesh and Western UP. At the same time, rain activity will also remain very low over the western coast (from South Gujarat to Kerala, Konkan-Goa and coastal Karnataka).
