Weather Update: Monsoon havoc continues across country; Heavy rains expected in many states

Heavy to very heavy rains will continue in different parts of the country for the next 4-5 days. The effect of monsoon is being seen more especially in the states of South, East and Central India.

New Delhi: Monsoon has gained momentum across the country and its widespread effect is being seen in many states.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rains will continue in different parts of the country for the next 4-5 days. The effect of monsoon is being seen more especially in the states of South, East and Central India.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

Apart from this, a low pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal, which will further activate the monsoon. Very heavy rains may occur in many parts of eastern and central India between July 25 and 28.

Change in weather in Delhi-NCR

The weather in the national capital Delhi and NCR is constantly changing. People are troubled by bright sunshine on one day and heavy rain on the other day. So far no continuous period of rain has been seen here in July.

According to Skymet Weather, this year the monsoon in Delhi has been 18% less than normal. However, there is a possibility of change from July 27 and light to moderate rain may occur in the capital.

Signs of relief in North India

Monsoon activity is also expected to increase in states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand. Heavy rain warning has been issued in UP till July 30.

Heavy rains may occur with thunderstorms in districts like Lucknow, Prayagraj, Ballia and Ayodhya. An 'Orange Alert' has been issued in Uttarakhand and heavy rains are also expected in Himachal Pradesh.

Threat of lightning and heavy rain in eastern India

Heavy rain and thunderstorm warning has been issued in 12 districts of Bihar, including districts like Araria, Purnia, Gaya and Bhagalpur. Heavy rain continues at some places in Jharkhand as well.

Alert in West India too

Monsoon is also active in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. There is a possibility of heavy rain in divisions like Kota, Bharatpur and Jaipur of Rajasthan. At the same time, light rain continues in Mumbai but the situation may worsen in the next few days.
