Rising Temperatures Signal Early End of Winter in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: With the beginning of February, the weather in Delhi-NCR is rapidly changing. Winter is slowly withdrawing, and the heat is beginning to be felt. Daytime temperatures are steadily rising, while nights have become less cold than before. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are expected to rise further by February 11th.

Temperatures to reach this level by February 11th

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature in Delhi-NCR could reach 25 to 26 degrees Celsius. This will result in a noticeable heat during the day. The minimum temperature will remain above 10 degrees Celsius, and in some areas, it could reach 13 degrees Celsius. This means that a mild heat will be felt even at night.

Effect of strong sunlight and winds

These days, Delhi-NCR is experiencing bright sunshine, due to which people have almost given up wearing sweaters and jackets during the day. In the past 24 hours, the wind speed was around 20 kilometers per hour, which could now increase to 25 kilometers per hour. Northwest winds will keep the weather dry.

No Rain Alert

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain in Delhi-NCR until February 11th, and no warning has been issued. The weather will remain mostly dry in North India, Central India, and Eastern India for the next one week.

Snowfall in the Mountains, Relief in the Plains

However, two consecutive Western Disturbances will affect the hilly states, causing intermittent snowfall. The weather in Uttarakhand will remain mostly clear. Strong winds will continue to blow in the Gangetic plains for the next three days.

Temperature and AQI of Major Cities

Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 8 degrees Celsius, while the AQI was 261. Temperatures in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Greater Noida, and Faridabad also hovered around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius, with the air quality index remaining in the 'poor' category in many areas.

Overall, winter is now in its final stages in Delhi-NCR, and the effects of heat will become more pronounced in the coming days.
