New Delhi: Cold has slowly begun to creep into the national capital, Delhi. Cold and moist winds blowing from the northwest have increased the feeling of mild chill in the mornings and evenings.
The Meteorological Department reported on Friday that for the first time this season, Delhi's minimum temperature dropped below 20 degrees Celsius, indicating the onset of winter.

The minimum temperature recorded at Delhi's Safdarjung Observatory on Friday was 18.8 degrees Celsius, 2.2 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature was 29.9 degrees Celsius, 4.3 degrees below normal.
In Palam, the maximum temperature was only 28 degrees Celsius, 6.5 degrees below normal. This indicates that the weather is becoming cooler both day and night.
Due to recent rains, the humidity in the atmosphere is quite high. On Friday, the humidity level dropped from 94 percent to 49 percent. The northwesterly wind direction prevented the temperature from rising, further deepening the feeling of cold.

According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi's temperatures will remain below normal for the next two days. Saturday is expected to be clear.
The maximum temperature is expected to be between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds are expected to be between 5 and 15 kmph.
Delhi's air quality initially remained clear, but now pollution is rapidly increasing. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's average Air Quality Index (AQI) on Friday was recorded at 170, which falls in the 'moderate' category.
