Bengaluru: Karnataka politics continues to be gripped by suspense, twists, and drama. The escalating leadership conflict between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar, has now reached Delhi. Preparations are underway to resolve the dispute at a Congress high command meeting.

Shivakumar's patience is running out

Shivakumar, an influential leader of the Vokkaliga community, has indicated that his patience is running out. Siddaramaiah, on the other hand, has clarified that he will remain in office until 2028. Amid this political tussle, approximately 10 MLAs have reached Delhi to pressure the party to appoint Shivakumar as CM.

Congress High Command Brainstorming

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that a meeting will be held between senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah, and Shivakumar. Kharge said, "All senior leaders will discuss the issue and put an end to the confusion." However, differences have also emerged among those close to Siddaramaiah. Home Minister G. Parameshwara said that if the high command wants to make Shivakumar the CM, he is ready. Meanwhile, Zameer Ahmed Khan said that the top post is not vacant until 2028.

Shivakumar's Moves and Hints

Shivakumar hinted on social media that "word power is world power." However, he later denied writing it. As state Congress president, Shivakumar says only 5-6 people are aware of this "secret deal." As part of his strategy, Shivakumar also met with Siddaramaiah's ally Satish Jarkiholi late at night.

Siddaramaiah's Influence and Cabinet Reshuffle

Siddaramaiah has been holding frequent meetings with his supporting MLAs and pressuring for cabinet changes. This move is being seen as an attempt to strengthen his position. Shivakumar wants the party to first decide on a leadership change.

Who is stronger?

Siddaramaiah enjoys the support of the Congress leadership and enjoys strong support among SC, ST, Muslim, and OBC voters. Shivakumar, meanwhile, possesses impressive organizational skills and election management. The root cause of the leadership crisis in the Karnataka Congress government is the "2.5-year formula." This same formula also led to the party's loss of power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
