New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the constitutional validity of Aadhaar and said that it empowers the marginalised sections of the society.

 

 

Main Points:

1. Aadhaar card is mandatory for PAN linking.

2. Aadhaar is not mandatory for UGC, NEET & CBSE examinations. 

3. Aadhaar need not be made compulsory for school admissions.

4. No mobile company can demand "Aadhaar card".

5. Aadhaar not mandatory for opening of bank account.

6. Supreme Court strikes down the section 57 of Aadhaar Act; as a result, private companies cannot ask for Aadhaar card.
