New Delhi: A political war of words has intensified ahead of the special session of Parliament, with Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Kumar Rai launching a sharp attack on the Centre and claiming that if elections were held today, the BJP would face a resounding defeat.
Commenting on the Nari Shakti Adhiniyam Bill, the SP MP said that the bill reflects the government’s “double standards” towards women. He alleged that due to upcoming state elections, the government is trying to rush the bill without proper discussion.

Rai also raised concerns over the proposed delimitation based on the 2011 Census, calling it part of a larger conspiracy. He questioned the relevance of conducting delimitation when Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is ongoing in various states, and asked what the need for a census is in such a situation.
He further claimed that people from all sections of society are unhappy with the government’s policies, and if elections were held today, the public would “send them off with band and music.”
