New Delhi: Actor and director Dhanush is back in the limelight with speculations of him possibly entering the world of politics following his appeal to his fans to take up the challenge of contributing to society rather than just celebrating movies. Addressing a blood donation camp organised by his fans on Sunday, the actor, who won the National Award spoke about the need to harness the strength of all together for some social cause.
Addressing the crowd, the actor appreciated the attendance and motivated them to utilise their unity for some society welfare activities. He encouraged his fans to look for the needs of the people around them and provide them with whatever help they can give.
According to the actor, fan clubs should stop doing audio release ceremonies and similar celebrations and start contributing positively to society. He also said that he would be very proud of them.
Within hours of the videos of the event coming out, the internet saw plenty of people discussing how Dhanush’s speech hinted at his plans to join politics. While many compared the situation to the case of actor Vijay making his entry into the field of politics, there was nothing in the form of an announcement made by Dhanush.
At the same event, Dhanush also commented on the controversy of 2024 National Film Awards. Accepting that there were several worthy Tamil movies released in the year, he did say that some of those movies could have qualified for the award.
He also appealed to the public to be happy about the great achievement of Tamil cinema, saying that there were two National Awards for Tamil actors in a single year. In fact, Dhanush won the Special Mention for his acting in Captain Miller while his film Raayan bagged the National Award for the Best Tamil Film. The latter has not gone well with some cinema fans, though.
