New Delhi: US President Donald Trump is suffering from a disease called Chronic Venous Insufficiency. Trump's disease was detected in a medical checkup. In a statement issued by the White House, it was told that 79-year-old President Trump was checked up due to swelling and injury in his legs. CVI disease was diagnosed in this checkup.
Now lets understand What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency and what kind of problems does it cause to people?
According to the report of Cleveland Clinic, Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a condition in which the veins of the legs are not able to properly transport blood back to the heart.
Normally, there are small valves in the veins, which make the blood flow towards the heart. If these valves get damaged or weakened, the blood can flow back down and accumulate in the legs. This leads to the condition of CVI. Due to this, the pressure in the veins of the legs increases and apart from swelling in the legs, ulcers start forming. This disease is not very dangerous, but can be very painful.
According to the White House statement, President Trump has got this problem due to his habit of shaking hands regularly and using aspirin. Donald Trump takes aspirin to avoid cardiovascular diseases. CVI is not a fatal disease, but a slow and chronic vein problem caused by age and some habits. People over 70 years of age are at higher risk of this disease.

The early symptoms of this disease include swelling in the legs or ankles, feeling of heaviness or tiredness, itching or tingling on the skin and varicose veins. In some cases, the skin may change color, become thick or leathery, and ulcers or wounds may also appear on the legs. If it is not treated in time, this condition can become very painful and serious.
This problem occurs when the valve is damaged due to old blood clots or injury in the veins. With aging, the veins become weak and this problem starts occurring. Factors such as standing or sitting for long periods of time, obesity, pregnancy, genetic reasons, smoking, low physical activity and family history can also cause this disease.
The problem of CVI cannot be completely cured through treatment, but it is possible to control this problem. Lifestyle changes such as regular walking, keeping the legs elevated and maintaining a healthy weight can control this disease.
