New Delhi: India applauds the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska and urges dialogue as a means of achieving peace. The recent Alaska summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump was warmly received by India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Randeep Jaiswal the MEA spokesperson stated that this meeting is a significant step in the direction of world peace. He went on to say that India values the progress achieved during the discussions and thinks that only communication and diplomacy can lead to the future. The world is paying close attention to the war in Ukraine and everyone wants it to end quickly according to Randeep Jaiswal.

India has consistently maintained that war is not a solution to any issue he underlined. Rather the best means of achieving peace are communication and understanding.

To discuss ending the war in Ukraine the two leaders met for almost three hours late Friday night in Alaska. They did not accept any questions from reporters during their brief 12-minute joint press conference following the meeting.

Trump stated during the press conference that he thought the meeting was constructive and went really well. He stated that although they had reached many agreements they had not yet finalized a deal. Trump gave the meeting an overall score of ten.

Putin stated that he prioritizes Russias security and proposed that the next meeting be held in Moscow. Following their speeches both leaders hurried off stage.

In the meantime Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared on social media that he spoke with Trump for an hour and a half. Zelensky will travel to Washington DC to meet with Trump on August 18. According to him Ukraine is prepared to bring about peace.

Donald Trump has put forth a novel plan to halt the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier he declared that unless Putin consents to a ceasefire he would not accept any deal. However he changed his strategy after speaking with European leaders and meeting Putin.

Trump now claims that a peace deal not merely a ceasefire is the way to truly end the war. Along with confirming his planned meeting with Zelensky he made a suggestion that should circumstances permit he might meet with Putin again.
