New Delhi: Following the outbreak of large-scale military attacks between Israel and Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging with Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that in some cases, Indian students are being relocated with the Embassy’s facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination.

The MEA further said that Embassy is also in touch with community leaders regarding welfare and safety. The Embassy also issued an advisory saying all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin in Iran are required to remain in touch with the Embassy and avoid all unnecessary movements.

The advisory was issued in view of the current situation in Iran. All Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin have been asked to follow the Embassy’s social media pages for updates.

Isreal-Iran War Escalates

Iran Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said on Sunday that 244 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Iran over the past 65 hours.

In a post on the social media platform X, Kermanpour noted that about 70 women and children were among the dead and that 1,277 people had been hospitalised.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that over 90 per cent of the casualties were civilians.

"In just three recent strikes in Tehran, 73 women and kids killed; 20 children killed in Chamran residential complex, 10 still remain trapped under rubble 48 hours later," Baghaei said on X.

The day before, the Iranian Health Ministry said that about 1,500 had been injured in Iran less than three days after the start of Israeli attacks on the territory of the Islamic Republic, of whom 220 had died. Moreover, according to Kermanpour, more than 90% of the victims were civilians.
