Recently, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) released a video showing a Pakistani Army convoy surrendering to their militants.
The convoy was ambushed in a targeted attack, resulting in the deaths of three personnel. Following the ambush, the remaining soldiers surrendered to the TTP militants. Subsequently, local tribal elders intervened and successfully negotiated the release of the convoy.

The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or Pakistani Taliban, is a militant group started in 2007 by Baitullah Mehsud. It is a Deobandi jihadist organization that mainly operates along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The current leader of the group is Noor Wali Mehsud. Even though the TTP has said it supports the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Taliban has not officially accepted this claim.
Formation and Leadership:
The TTP was created in December 2007 by Baitullah Mehsud.
After his death, the group had different leaders, including Hakimullah Mehsud and Mullah Fazlullah. Noor Wali Mehsud became the leader in 2018.
Ideology and Goals:
The group follows Deobandi Islam, Islamic fundamentalism, Pashtun traditions, and has beliefs that include sectarianism and the desire for separation.
Their main aim is to remove the Pakistani government and create an Islamic state in the area.
Operations and Attacks:
The TTP has carried out many violent attacks, such as the 2014 school attack in Peshawar, the attempt on Malala Yousafzai’s life, and several bombings and suicide attacks.
Relations with the Afghan Taliban:
The TTP has claimed to be loyal to the Afghan Taliban, but the Afghan Taliban has publicly rejected this claim.
Two days ago at least five members of the banned TTP group were killed and two were hurt during a security operation in Pakistan's troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, as reported by the police. Eight terrorists were taken alive during the operation carried out by the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Malakand district.
