Amman: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised Jordan’s steadfast leadership in combating terrorism, extremism, and radicalisation, describing the country’s approach as a “strong and strategic message to humanity.”
The remarks were made during delegation-level talks with King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein in Amman, marking a significant moment in India-Jordan diplomatic engagement.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the long-standing convergence between India and Jordan on issues of global security and peace. Recalling his early interactions with King Abdullah II at international forums dedicated to countering radicalisation, the Prime Minister noted the Jordanian leader’s consistent clarity and resolve on the issue.
He emphasised that Jordan, under King Abdullah’s leadership, has repeatedly demonstrated a principled and unwavering stance against violent extremism an approach India deeply respects and supports. According to PM Modi, this shared outlook strengthens cooperation between the two nations in addressing complex global security challenges.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged Jordan’s constructive role in promoting stability in the Middle East, particularly its engagement regarding the Gaza situation. He expressed hope that sustained diplomatic efforts would lead to peace and long-term stability across the region.
PM Modi added that India and Jordan have worked closely for decades on matters related to peace, security, and regional cooperation, and that the current visit would help elevate the partnership to a new level.
Expressing appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation, the Prime Minister said the discussions held during the visit were forward-looking and productive. He underlined that the talks would pave the way for deeper collaboration across multiple sectors.
Responding to the Prime Minister’s remarks, King Abdullah II described the visit as a reflection of the enduring friendship between India and Jordan. He noted that bilateral relations are rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for growth and prosperity.
The King highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in key areas such as industry, information and communication technology, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and energy, stating that the visit offered an ideal platform to chart new avenues of economic partnership.
PM Modi’s visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan, a landmark expected to further strengthen political, economic, and cultural ties. With bilateral trade nearing USD 2.8 billion, Jordan remains a vital partner for India in the Middle East.
Following his stay in Jordan, the Prime Minister will continue his three-nation tour with visits to Ethiopia and Oman, reflecting India’s growing global engagement and strategic outreach.
