New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, a significant development has emerged. The U.S. administration has explicitly refuted reports claiming that an agreement has been reached regarding the release of Iran's frozen funds. This statement from the White House comes at a time when sensitive negotiations between the two nations are currently underway, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Reports had suggested that the U.S. had agreed to release a sum of approximately $6 billion, funds currently held up in foreign banks, particularly in Qatar. Some Iranian officials had cited this claim as an indication of America's "seriousness." However, the U.S. has now clarified that no such authorization has been granted.

In fact, this $6 billion sum is not a new matter. These funds were frozen in 2018 following the imposition of U.S. sanctions. Later, in 2023, a plan to release these funds was devised during a prisoner exchange between the U.S. and Iran. However, later that same year, following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the U.S. reimposed a freeze on these assets.

“We’re Ready to Go,” Warns Warns

In another major diplomatic turning point, the US President Donald Trump has claimed that talks with Iran have commenced; however, he simultaneously delivered a stern message, stating that if the negotiations prove unsuccessful, the United States is “ready for action.”

In an interview, describing Iran as a “failing nation,” Trump remarked that it would soon become clear just how serious Tehran is regarding these negotiations. He also expressed confidence that the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes—would soon be reopened.

Peace talks between the United States and Iran are currently underway in Islamabad. The primary focus of these discussions is to de-escalate the conflict and ensure the security of maritime routes. The Strait of Hormuz, in particular—where shipping traffic has been disrupted due to recent tensions—remains at the very center of these negotiations.
