Tharoor Backs Organizational Discipline After Digvijaya Singh Controversy
New Delhi: The Congress party is once again in the spotlight due to internal bickering. Senior leader Digvijay Singh's comments regarding the organizational strength of the RSS and BJP have sparked a debate within the party. Now, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has weighed in on the controversy, emphasizing the need for organizational discipline and strength.
Recently, Digvijay Singh shared an old picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media, showing PM Modi sitting on the ground. Along with the picture, Digvijay Singh wrote that the BJP and RSS give their grassroots workers opportunities to rise within the organization, and this is their organizational strength.
This comment was seen as praise for the BJP-RSS, leading to criticism of Digvijay Singh within the Congress party.

After the controversy escalated, Digvijay Singh clarified his statement, saying that he had never praised the ideology of the RSS or the BJP. He clarified that he does not want to learn anything from the ideology of people like Nathuram Godse and has always been against the Sangh's ideology.
Digvijay said that his intention was only to point out that a strong organization is essential for any political party. He also emphasized the need for reforms and decentralization of power within the Congress.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor gave a balanced response to the entire controversy. Tharoor said that Digvijay Singh's statement should be seen in its full context. He said, "I also want our organization to be strong. There should be discipline in the organization."
Tharoor also added that Digvijay Singh spoke about strengthening the organization, which is a valid point. He said Digvijay Singh himself would respond to the rest of the statement. Tharoor's statement is being seen as a sign of introspection within the Congress regarding discipline and structure.
However, several other party leaders strongly objected to Digvijay Singh's statement. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera linked the RSS to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, saying that there is nothing to learn from the Sangh. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manickam Tagore made a scathing comment on social media, calling it a "self-goal." He said that the Congress is a 140-year-old party and has consistently fought against hatred.
