Heavy Rain in Delhi Brings Temperature Drop
New Delhi: The capital, Delhi, witnessed a sudden change in weather due to heavy rain on Tuesday, October 7th. The rains caused a drop in temperatures and disrupted traffic in many areas. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted partly cloudy skies and light rain for the next day, Wednesday, October 8th.
The weather in Delhi became cool and pleasant after the rains.
Maximum temperature: 29.8 degrees Celsius, which was 4.4 degrees below normal.
Minimum temperature: 21 degrees Celsius, which was 1.3 degrees below normal.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is 20 degrees Celsius.
According to Meteorological Department data:
Palam: 41.6 mm of rain
Ridge: 37 mm of rain
Safdarjung (main weather station): 5.8 mm of rain
These data show that some areas received heavy rainfall while others received light rainfall.
Air services were also affected due to reduced visibility caused by heavy rain. A total of 15 flights were diverted: 8 to Jaipur, 5 to Lucknow, 2 to Chandigarh. Visibility at Palam Airport was 6000 meters at 1:30 pm, which dropped to 1200 meters at 5 pm.
The rain caused heavy waterlogging on many roads in Delhi, leading to traffic jams.
Affected areas include: Arya Samaj Road in Patparganj, Shadipur Metro Station, Old Rohtak Road, Bada Tooti Chowk in Sadar Bazaar, Roshnaara Road, Azad Market Chowk.

Roads leading to the airport, especially from Connaught Place to Dhaula Kuan, were also heavily congested.
Delhi residents shared photos and videos of traffic on 'X' (formerly Twitter). One user complained of a jam on the Dwarka Expressway. Another reported heavy waterlogging near Retreat Apartments in Patparganj.
People demanded immediate action and improved drainage from the traffic police and municipal bodies.

Pollution decreased due to the rain. According to the CPCB, Delhi's AQI at 4 pm was 73, which falls in the "satisfactory" category.
