Dog Bite Victims in Karnataka to Receive Rs 5,000
Bengaluru: Dog bites are a daily occurrence across the country. Both the government and the courts have already expressed concern over such incidents. This is why the Supreme Court recently ordered the vaccination of all dogs. Amidst this, the Karnataka government has now taken a significant decision. Accordingly, the families of those who die from dog bites will receive a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.

The government has announced that if a person dies due to a dog bite, their family will receive a compensation of five lakh rupees. The state government stated that this decision was taken to ensure timely treatment and financial assistance in serious cases. An order has also been issued by the government regarding this.
Compensation is also provided in Haryana
Before Karnataka, the Haryana government also announced similar compensation in September. According to the Haryana government's notification, the compensation amount for dog bites will be a minimum of 10,000 rupees per bite mark and a minimum of 20,000 rupees per 0.2 cm wound. In addition, compensation will also be provided in case of death.
In its decision, the government stated that a committee will be formed in every district to decide the compensation amount for claims related to accidents/incidents caused by stray cattle. The compensation committee will recommend all necessary documents within 120 days, and only then will a final decision be made on compensation.
